GSEA stands for Graceland Student Education Association.  We will be having a meeting on Monday, November 14th at 4:00 pm in 302 Zimmermann.  The purpose of this meeting is to invite education students to learn more about GSEA and how to get involved with the group.   Ice cream will be provided, and we hope to see a lot of our education students participate. Iowa Conservation Education Coalition

The Iowa Conservation Education Coalition is hosting two 11-month (1200-hour) Green Iowa Americorps members December 2022 through October 2023. The members may work remotely at times, but should be located near Iowa City or Des Moines so that we can support and mentor them during their experience. Individuals who recently graduated, who will graduate in December, or who have a lighter academic load may be interested

Planned member activities include:

  • Help promote and coordinate the winter workshop professional development workshop at Drake University on February 11.
  • Support the 2023 Game Jam, in which teams of elementary through middle school students work together to create a game (board, digital, full-body, etc) that explores, teaches about, or proposes solutions to real-life conservation issues facing Iowa.
  • Expand adoption of and use by Iowa educators of the numerous environmental education curricula, guides, and resources that ICEC oversees, including Project WILD, KinderNature, Field Investigations, Iowa Authentic Data, and more.
  • Explore how ICEC can support increased participation in the statewide high school Envirothon, including through partnering with the Conservation Districts of Iowa to increase diverse student participation in Envirothon.
  • Expand statewide awareness of ICEC and increasing general engagement with ICEC programs, events, and resources.

Hope Leadership Academy

The Mirabile C-1 School District (4-day school week) is looking for a full-time dedicated  (combined classroom) Elementary Classroom Teacher for the 2022-23 academic year. The Mirabile C-1 School District is a K-8 elementary school in Northwest Missouri serving approximately 40 students.  The Elementary Teacher is responsible for providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in the areas of teaching assignment and a valid Missouri Teacher Certificate (B-3 or Grades 1-6), successful student teaching, excellent oral and written communication skills, skills in human relations, leadership, and conflict management. This position also requires knowledge of teaching techniques that meet the diverse needs of students, demonstrate skills in computer word processing, spreadsheets, and databases, experience in formative assessments, cooperative learning techniques, and data analysis. Qualified applicants will  engage in professional development activities consistent with the goals and objectives of the building, district and state, participate in building, grade level and subject area committees.
