The placement process that resulted in a student teacher being placed with you began when Graceland's Field Office contacted the school's administrator formally seeking permission to place one of our student candidates in the school building. As part of that initial request, a link to the student's ePortfolio (which includes their introduction, resume, and philosophy of education) is sent to the school administrator.
You should receive this link when you agree to serve as a mentor/cooperating teacher. If you have not received the student teacher's ePortfolio link, please contact the Field Office. In addition, once the placement is confirmed, the student teacher candidate is instructed to contact their cooperating teacher to introduce themselves, confirm their start dates, and ask any questions they may have.
Email has proven to be an effective means of communication and allows for conversations to take place in a timely manner. Unfortunately, messages are often routed to a spam folder or the school email account is not reliable.
We will be sending several informational emails to you. In order for us to ensure that your email address is on file and you are receiving our communication, please send an email message to coulthar@graceland.edu if your school email changes for any reason. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at anytime.
