'65 Dan Hanton, Ft. Gratoit, Michigan -- My 1990-91 Port Huron Northern Boys Basketball Team (22-4) will be inducted into the Port Huron Sports Hall of Fame Oct 12, 2019...defeated by the Nation’s #1 ranked High School Team Detroit Southwestern in the State of Michigan QuarterFinals. That team starred Jalen Rose... (Was GU women’s coach 1999-2003, AD 2003-2008 & Assistant Women’s Coach 2010-16...)  
 
 '83 Willliam "Bill" Sherer, Happy Valley, Oregon -- The Board of Directors of MSNW (Mennonite Services Northwest) is pleased to announce that William Sherer has been selected as chief executive officer starting September 25, 2019. Mr. Sherer comes to MSNW with over 30 years of experience in the Health Care industry, including executive positions with health systems, senior living organizations and as owner and operator of senior living communities. Mr. Sherer's leadership experiences include: owner and operator of long-term care facilities in Iowa, President and CEO of Catholic Health Initiatives - Portland, OR Service Area, and most recently Clinical Program Executive Medicine – Oregon Region for Providence St. Joseph Health. Mr. Sherer has a Masters in Health Administration and is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  Will Barnhart, Chair of the MSNW Board and Search Committee, stated "Bill's selection is the result of a national search for MSNW's next CEO. We are excited to invite Bill and believe he can help lead MSNW to continue to provide quality services in a way that effectively reflects our values and vision. Bill's experience in a variety of health care organizations is a good fit with the multi-service line approach of MSNW. Bill stood out from other candidates and exhibited a passion and planned approach to this job that we felt made him an excellent choice for this position.”  Bill said about his selection, “The faith-based mission and values of Mennonite Services Northwest resonate deeply with me. In the context of that mission and those values, I look forward to serving along with the board, the leadership team, and the caregivers at all levels, those entrusted to our care now and into the future.” Bill and his wife are really looking forward to this new chapter of their lives. Bill's first day as the new CEO is September 25, 2019.
 
'91 Kerby Bunch, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma--Kerby was awarded Outstanding Teacher by the Tulsa Technical College on August 24, 2019.  She is an Early Childhood Teacher with the Jenks Public Schools.
 
'94 Mike Seagraves, Granite Bay, California--Mike graduated with a PhD in Global Leadership and Change from Pepperdine University and has since taken a new position as VP of Digital Delivery and Operations at Kaiser Permanente. 
 
'97 Jimmie Murray, Humeston, Iowa--art exhibit at the Hearst. (emailed link to communications 6/18/19). 
'97 Thurston Smith, Memphis, Tennessee--Thurston joined Southwest Tennessee Community College as an adjunct professor and is teaching counseling in the Department of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services in January 2019.  He serves on a variety of local civic boards and commissions.  He is currently a candidate for Memphis City Council District 7.
 


'01 Matt Koehn-Fairbanks, Elba, Nebraska -- Matt was selected as the Nebraska Coaches Association volleyball coach of the year for 2019.  Matt is the volleyball coach at St. Paul Public High School.
